My art

I love my artwork, creating art that makes people oooo and aaahhhhh and think. My art is a form of therapy for me to help me through the sometimes difficult times that I sometimes endure due to being ill with Panic Disorder, Fibromyalgia, and a few of her ugly step-sisters. Many people have told me that my art helps them through hard times and that is a blessing for me!

I am not working through any of the well-known or unwell-known companies, just me, myself, and my hubby who does some of the corrections via the computer that need to be fixed. I keep looking for a way to get my greeting cards out there.

Here I am?????

I have just finished a weekend of pet sitting jobs and am home now, but not for long, I start another job tomorrow that will last a week. Luckily the house isn't far from my house so I will easily be able to come home and get things ready for the Craft show on Saturday. As if that isn't enough, I start a new weekend pet sitting job on Saturday. I am now entering a very busy Pet Sitting time of the year because the holidays are coming. Shucks, I am already booking jobs for January!

Hectic

Well, we made it through that Nor'Easter without any damamge that I know of. It was very windy and lots of heavy rains. I must admit I like a good storm! Before I began taking meds ofr Panic Disorder I could forecast a storm (rain or snow) because I would get hyper and goofy. Now that fun is over.

Things are about to get hectic here, I have a handful of pet sitting jobs (one of which is weeklong), getting ready for a craft show, participating in a craft show, and another pet sitting job, then I am substituting for a lady for a week doing a Companion job. I tired just thinking about it!

Family

I got a call today from my BIL letting me know that my sister is in the hospital having suffered a stroke and her son, the fellow I told you about that has bad diabetes and total kidney failure, is in the hospital also having had a stroke last Friday! He was in hospital for a few days then they let my sister know he had been transferred to a Rehabcenter. And now she is in the hospital with a stroke.I spent a few hours with her and her hubby this evening. She is so far pretty good. Everything seems to be fine except her speech is slurred. There is a possibility that her speech may recover. As for my nephew,we know nothing at this time.

Help a dog (and a starving artist! LOL)

My husband and I are a part of a no-kill dog rescue, we provide a foster home for dogs who are in danger of being put down. This group does not have a facility but depends on people to provide foster homes for the dogs and depends on donations so we can provide food and vet care. I have decided to donate a percentage of all my sales on my etsy shop

to this rescue. Please feel free to visit my site, shop, and know that you are helping a wonderful dog! Or you can check out the site: http://www.msplinks.com/MDFodHRwOi8vd3d3Lms5bmV3bGlmZS5jb20v
to make a donation.

There is a picture of our latest foster dog, Sequoia, right under the heading NEWS (see pic above)

... he is such a funny mess! We love him! He is also listed under "Dogs for adoption." He is such a loving goofball! He loves to sit in my hubby's lap and kisses him and lays his head on hubbys shoulder and look lovingly up at him.

Rainy Days

I suppose some people dislike rainy days, I know I have in the past, but today is different. Today I am reminded of the years I spent living in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains in Upstate New York. I was attending a Bible School and we lived in the school's trailor park which was totally surrounded by woods. When my children were very young I would rock them to sleep in the living room and enjoy the view of a large path that disappeared into the woods. So peaceful. and on certain days there would be a heavenly scent of pine trees and autumn woods.

I do miss those days except for the bugs and the extremely long winter months! But I can always forgive that because my mind focuses on the beauty of God's creation.

Sometimes still I find myself mentally wandering the hallways of the School (it is an beautiful old building once used as TB retreat), hearing the songs from the chapel, then out walking inthe fields and woods. Ah, yes, in Spring I would wander the roads and pick Lily of the Valleys which grew wild along the sides of the roads. Sometimes I get home sick for the area.

New card in my shop!

Sorry I haven't been here in a while but I just got back from a Pet/House sitting job and I couldn't get on line. The Client didn'thave wireless and their computer just didn't want to work. While there I created two new cards! I just uploaded one of them: The Angel ofTwilight! (www.aheartofmersea.etsy.com) She is so pretty if I do say so myself! I have another card, a Christmas card, that I am still trying tofinish. She should be up soon!

A week away working.

I arrived home last evening after a week pet sitting job. This was an easy situation but still being away from home and staying at someone elses home always wears me down. I was gone 8 days, got some artwork done and now have to scan them and fix any blunders I may have made... working with color pencils can be a bit trying because if you make a mistake you may not be able to fix it unless it is done on a computer.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get online at the clients house, she didn't have wireless and her computer must have gone on vacation, too because it wouldn't do a thing! Therefore I wasn't able to get online. Maybe one of these days I will be able to get one of those gadgets that enables me to be online no matter where I am!

I wasn't feeling right when I came home last evening, light headed and a bit dizzy. Do you know how weird it feels to ddrive when feeling 'blonde?' LOL I must admit that no matter how short a sitting job is, I always come home fatigued, but it is always great to come home!

Mc Cainisms

I watched most of John McCains acceptance speech last night and I must admit my favorite slip up was when he was talking about his running mate: " She uses her hands and nose..." LOL he meant she works with her hands and knows ....

Looks like we will have lots of interesting remarks to giggle over if John Mc Cain wins! Move over Bush.... well, maybe no one can top the giggle list that Bush has created, that would be a hard bar to jump!

Posting pictures

For some silly reason I am having a very hard time posting pictures here on my blogspot! I've tried everything but to no avail. And today I can't even delete a post.... is blogspot having problems? anybody know?

This is something that can't be ignored

Dear CBN Staff: As a follow-up to our Labor Day Prayer gathering, I am again sharing with you the details of the special call to prayer for the upcoming season. Please be faithful in your prayer for this pending and grave situation... Russia’s vicious dismemberment of the tiny nation of Georgia is the beginning of an unfolding sequence of Soviet aggression. At present, pipelines from Siberia that run through Russia supply the majority of natural gas and oil used by Western Europe and Ukraine. A pipeline from the Caspian Sea has been bringing one million barrels a day of non-Russian oil through Georgia to Turkey and the Mediterranean Sea. Russia wants to control all of those vital pipelines. Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, is only 578 miles from Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. Russia has helped neighboring Iran build its two aggressive nuclear facilities. Georgia and Iraq are now sandwiched between the dictatorships of Russia and Iran. It doesn’t take a genius to see that the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, wants to dominate Caspian oil and Persian Gulf oil to add to Russia’s own enormous supplies of oil and gas. If he succeeds, Russia will gain a stronghold over the economies of most of the world and can then act to bring America to its knees. Against that backdrop, consider what is happening in Iran. That nation is under the domination of a fanatical group of Shiite Muslim clerics. The president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is a fervent believer in the Mahdi, a mythical messiah figure who, according to his belief, will come to make the entire world Muslim, but only after a period of worldwide chaos and destruction during which all the Jews will be killed. Iran, despite warnings from the United Nations, is on an accelerated course to build nuclear facilities and an atomic bomb. The Iranians recently test fired an improved intermediate range ballistic missile, the Shahab III, that is capable of carrying nuclear warheads to hit Israel, Iraq, and most of Europe. Ahmadinejad has repeatedly expressed a desire to use nuclear weapons to annihilate the nation of Israel. He has declared that the threat of nuclear retaliation from Israel against Iran does not concern him because tens of millions of Iranian deaths will merely hasten the coming of the Mahdi. In the nineteen thirties, a similar fanatic named Adolf Hitler made clear his diabolic plan. The Allied Powers, France and Great Britain, could easily have stopped Hitler but they scoffed at his pretensions. In 1945, only after World War II and fifty million tragic deaths did the free world recognize the cost of its indifference to the clear warnings from Hitler’s own speeches and published writings. In 2008, the nation of Israel does not have the luxury of ignoring the ravings of a fanatic who soon will possess nuclear bombs with a will to use them. The Western powers want to talk and negotiate with Russia and Iran, but talk is futile. When Russia moves again to crush a neighbor or enter the Middle East, and when Iran develops an atomic bomb, time for talk will be over. The Western powers have left Israel no choice but to strike Iranian nuclear facilities now. However, it seems to me, and to our CBN News Bureau Chief in Jerusalem, that Israel will not want to commence actions against Iran until after the United States elections have taken place. Then Israel must make a preemptive strike against the Iranian nuclear reactors by air or submarine-launched cruise missiles during the brief period between the US elections until the inauguration of a new US president. But here is the downside for Israel. In Lebanon, on Israel’s northern border, the radical group known as Hezbollah has, along with Iranian help, completely re-armed and now possesses as many as 40,000 rockets targeting Israel. To the south of Israel, in the Gaza, another Iranian client, Hamas, is armed to the teeth and longing for an opportunity to strike Israel. Of course, an Israeli attack will trigger a counter blow from Iran and possibly Syria. But these are not the only dangers. Would Russia then consider hostilities (such as I have outlined) the excuse to enter the fight on trumped-up reasons in order to further its ultimate aim of controlling Middle East oil? As the potential conflict spreads, oil terminals would be engulfed in smoke and flames. The Straits of Harmuz would be blocked, and with it 60 percent of the world’s oil. United States industry would face collapse and a devastating depression would descend upon America and Western Europe. What if the United States decided to oppose the Russian expansion? The Russians have enough long-range nuclear-tipped ballistic missiles aimed at the United States to annihilate all of our cities. Would we be willing to play a nuclear game of chicken with Russia to save Israel? Probably not. Would the United States risk war with Russia over Middle East oil? Perhaps, but unlikely. If we act, it is ugly. If we don’t act, our economy could either be crippled or faced with continually escalating exactions demanded by Russia for oil. About 2600 years ago, God gave the Prophet Ezekiel a description of an invasion of Israel after the Jews had been regathered to the Promised Land from all over the world in the “latter days.” Ezekiel wrote of an invasion force led by Russia that would include Iran and “Cush,” which is Sudan. The other parties described by Ezekiel that constituted the invading force could include some of the Muslim nations in the former Soviet Caucasus region and possibly Turkey. According to Ezekiel, they would come seeking “plunder and loot.” What greater plunder than the oil riches of the Persian Gulf? Will this unfold all at once? It’s difficult to say. But what is clear is this… The Israeli strike against Iran will be the trigger. From then on, dramatic events will follow in quick succession. It all will conclude when God has rained fire on the islands of the sea and on the invading force coming against Israel. Where will the United States be in all of this conflict? According to Ezekiel, the “young lions of Tarshish” will be questioning the Russians about their aggression…questioning, but not acting to stop it. Who are these “young lions of Tarshish?” Tarshish was the region beyond Cadiz in Spain. In antiquity, explorers from Tarshish came to Ireland, then across the ocean to North America, traveling the Mississippi River as far as the present day site of Davenport, Iowa. I believe the term “young lions of Tarshish” refers to England and the United States of America. According to Ezekiel, when the Middle East trouble begins, the United States government will warn Russia and Iran, but refuse to act. We will suffer grave economic damage, but not military action in the conflict. However, we may not be spared nuclear strikes against coastal cities. In conclusion, it is my opinion that we have between 75 and 120 days before the Middle East starts spinning out of control. If there was ever a time for fervent prayer, it is now. Prayer can change the course of history! The Bible says, “Seek righteousness. Seek humility. That you may be hid in the day of the Lord’s wrath… The fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” The believing prayers of tens of thousands of God’s people can change the hearts of the leaders of Russia and Iran. God can cause situations to arise which will save Israel. He is Almighty. With God all things are possible! CBN is planning thirty days of prayer before the United Sates election. The stakes for the world in the next couple of years are beyond description. Please prepare your heart for earnest prevailing prayer. Hopefully, our Lord will intervene and head off the disaster that seems to be approaching. Let us pray together. With God all things are possible. God bless you. I remain…Sincerely,Pat M. Borders

I have been working on a border for a Christmas card I am going to make and I had a grand idea: Make the borders then scan them that way I won't have to continualously be creating borders and can concentrate on the pictures! If I remember correctly Mary Engelbreit said she does that too. Cool! I love making borders so that will be fun but it will be so nice to be able to pick a border I already have that will go nicely with the picture that is being born
