A New Adventure

Today I went to take a test to work the 2010 census. While sitting around the table we were all discussing various jobs and ideas for making money. I brought up Arbonne and was explaining about the products and a gentleman asked me if I used the products. I said yes and he said it looks very good, very good. How about that!

I have been turning over in my mind about becoming a consultant for Arbonne for a few days and I had an appointment with Katrina who id a New Independent Consultant, National Vice President this evening to sign up... guess the products are working!

27 December 2008

Well, some ole 'friends' have popped in for a visit and I hope it is a very short one! Sounds nasty don't it? Ha! They are Fibromyalgia flare-up, Restless Leg Syndrome, and pure agonizing grumpiness! Scared ya, didn't I! Thought you were finally seeing the hidden me! LOL The Restless Leg Syndrome started the day after I started using my 'new' elyptical machine! I may have to search for another one that starts off flat then angles as I get better at it. The one I just got starts at a 10 degree angle...

I've been studying some artistis websites and saw some of them had an artist's resume. Hmmmmmm...... I could do that! Not that I have a ton of public things but I can gather together what I have done and watch it grow. I've two things on my resume right now but donations and shows I've done are popping back into my head. I have journaled about them online and offline so now I have to go search the paths in the journals.

One lady I have been talking to suggested I start creating posters for charities, donate them to them, and let the news paper know about them. God bless her, Mary Katherine has been emailing me with all kinds of new ideas! Being as she is a published author I'm sure she knows!

I have been toying with the party plan again. This time I am thinking of expanding my art to painting on wood, a variety of items such as tee shirts, purses, book bags, gift tags, book markers, and other things, then have a cash and carry show. You see it, you can buy it and carry it on home! I have been researching some home based businesses and I've seen several that have tweaked my interest. I've been looking for one that is rather new to the area.

One I am considering is selling Arbonne skin care products. I went to a gathering at a neighbors house and tried them out and loved them. I booked a gathering and sold over $829 worth of products so I got $300 worth of free products! In the process of the Gathering I found out that the wife of a friend of ours started selling Arbonne and is doing quite well. I would love to do quite well, too! Anyways, I could use having an income so I can supply my artistic habit! I think between the Pet Sitting Biz, selling cards and prints , and maybe Arbonne, I could feel a bit more at ease.

Oh yeah, Norm - my yard Gnome has disappeared again! I wonder where he went on vacation this time? LOL

Like my artwork?

Merry Christmas!!!!!

This is a very different Christmas this year for us! Artificial tree, warm weather, and just hanging around the house. We have Christmas music filling the air... Enya, Loreena McKennitt, and a multitude of Celtic Artists serinading us while we are cooking dinner.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas/Holiday!

A new sketch...

Well, I thought it was going to be a sketch! Get me with a pencil in my hand and a movie on the computer or TV and things tend to expand its horizons! LOL
Tell me what you think.

What a week!

Last weekend started it! The hot water pump broke and we couldn't get a plumber until Monday. I went to the pool to work out, did 30 minutes onan elyptical, got in the pool and started walking, 3 minutes into the walk the life guard blew the whistle and told everyone they were closing the pool due to fecal matter in the water! YUCK! That evening my left hamstring started hurting - I twisted it somehow. I went to Walmart for something, bent down to tie my shoe and fell backwards flat on my butt infront of the doors! Embarrassing! We bought an artificial tree and yesterday while I was decorating it I twisted my left knee and had to bandage it up. Early in the week my treadmill died which ticked me off but last night we bought an elyptical machine!

Now things are getting better!

Mersea Give aways

Congratulations to Tammy and Valerie! Both gals figured out the puzzle and answered at the same time! Packages are on the way! Hope you enjoy!

I have decided to start sketching to increase my skill level. I haven't sketched much in years, once in a while but nothing much. I decided I needed to get back to it so my artwork would look better. Right now I am working on an angel astride a horse. I'll post it here once I have finished it.o

Quick _ a Give Away!

Quick- a GIVE AWAY! The first to find the cards with the "Ring of Joy" will win a set of any four cards of their choosing!

Convo me with answer!
Merry Christmas!!!!

11 December 2008

Ever feel void of feelings when Christmas rolls around? Usually I have lots of Christmas spirit but this year ... nothing. It doesn't feel like Christmas at all. I'm not depressed just blah. I haven't even gotten a tree yet and usually get my tree shortly after Thanksgiving! What is going on? We were thinking of getting a live tree so that after the Holidays we could plant it outside but no one is selling them around here.

I was just thinking that maybe I should get a fake tree instead of a cut tree that way I won't have to decorate it every year (I must admit I get tired of decorating a tree every year.)

Okay, I'm looking for a cloud of Christmas spirit to cover me right about now!

Art and Arbonne

I just finished two new pics, one of which has already been added to my etsy shoppe (http://www.aheartofmersea.etsy.com/). That pic is the Guardian Angel of dogs (well, I do work with a dog rescue). I just finished the Guardian Angel of Cats (well, I do have two cats).

I had a great idea for a Guardian angel of children but for some reason yesterday I couldn't get my idea on paper. I'm guessing it is because I did a lot of things yesterday and my mind was spinning... every once in a while I will have a symptom of labrynthitis (sorta like vertigo) and that may be what is going on. I finally got back to the pool to swim a mile and I felt a little swirly afterall, I am swimming in a circle sorta.

I had an Arbonne Show at my house Saturday and I was really shocked at the amount of sales I had! Over $800 and still have some residual orders coming in. I'm half tempted to sell this stuff- we just found out that the wife of a friend sells it and makes big bucks! I've been looking at businesses that are home party based. I use to sell Home Interiors years ago but when I moved to Norfolk everyone and their Momma sold it therefore I didn't do well so I dropped it. I'm looking at a couple of companies that I haven't seen around my area, I figure that would build interest. and of course in the meantime I will be working with my art and trying to get that in stores!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving turned out to be a little different this year. Originally my youngest son and I were to meet at my house and have dinner with Hubby. I got a call about 1pm from hubby who told me he had come down with a stomach virus so we decided to do dinner another night. Called my son and explained what was going on so he made other plans and I stayed at the Pet sitting house. A few hours later hubby called and said he was feeling fine so we decided to go ahead and have dinner. I called my son and told him but he had already made other plans. So it ended up being just B and me. Of course I didn't mind because we hadn't seen much of each other for the last few days. After dinner I got a message to my oldest son who lives in France wishing me a Happy Thanksgiving and told me what he was thankful for and I called him for a nice chat. It is so funny to speak to him because my boy now sports a French accent! )Living over there French is now his main language so it makes sense that he thinks in French which makes for an interesting conversation on my side of it!

26 November 2008

Working this Thanksgiving.

Right at this time I am pet sitting at 'my' house on the river in Va Beach! It is warm outside (comparatively speaking), I have the porch doors open to let in some cool air, the sun is pouring in and I am feeling quite at ease! I am working on a new picture that is of an angel with two dogs. If the pic turns out well I will donate some to K-9 New Life (our dog rescue) so they can sell them to help with expenses, we run on such a low budget and often have to host dog washes to get enough money for Vet bills and so forth.

Tomorrow I will go home for Turkey Dinner, the hubby and my youngest son are doing the honors this year. It feels weird to be 'going home' to my house for a holiday meal!

Meanwhile I will be playing with dogs, enjoying the sunset over the river, doing my artwork, watching movies and TV shows, and relaxing. Man I love this job!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

21 November 2008

Last night as I was going to sleep I had a flash of inspiration for a childrens book to write and illustrate. I didn't have paper nearby and I was so tired I couldn't get out of bed so I kept chanting it in my head thinking that would help me remember it. Guess what... nada. I'm sure though that it will come back to me....

We had someone interested in adopting Sequoia until they found out he needed an operation. Even though the Rescue will be paying for the operation they weren't interested in doing his rehab which will be extensive. So, the decision has been made that he will not be put up for adoption until after he has had the operation and gone through rehab. So far we don't have a Doc who can do the surgery. The head of the rescue, after a long discussion with the rescue's vet, to not do the operation until it is evident that he is in pain because the operation could be tramatic for him, so it looks like Sequoia will be with us for quite so time... I have a feeling he won't be going anywhere... he is already joined at the hip with my hubby!

Head and eye problems

Well, it has been a week today that I started having weird dizzy spells. Don't know what is causing them but I will be going to Drs tomorrow concerning them. The first spell happened in my sleep. I rolled over and suddenly it felt like the whole earth was spinning around. Same thing has happened from time to time during waking hours. I am often light headed and sometimes when I bend over I get a dizzy spell and start to black out.

I am thinking it may have something to do with my eyes. The Fibromyalgia often makes my eyes feel strained and that causes headaches. I have several pairs of glasses that I switch back and forth using depending how my eyes are feeling. Sometimes I will get eye strain when wearing one pair of glasses and change to another, there are two Rx glasses and two Dollar Store glasses. I do a lot of drawing so I am figuring that my eyes are acting up due to this. I take breaks from time to time to rest my eyes but that doesn't seem to help. I hope we get to the bottom of this soon, I'm tired of all these symptoms!

12 November 2008

I love to journal, that is a definite fact. Something about having a pen in my hand and seeing my thoughts flow onto a page makes me feel peaceful. Problem is that I often can't journal when I get ahah moments or special thoughts because I am doing things like driving, out with a friend, exercizing, etc. And another thing is do I really want someone reading my personal thoughts after I am gone? Find out about my sins, my good side, my angry side? I have a huge foot locker full of journals and I am pondering burning them.... one of those wonderful just got up in the morning thoughts.

10 November 2008

Why do I bother?

It happens every time I go to the Beauty Shoppe: I give the beautician a complete discription of what I want done, practically draw a picture for them and then they screw it up bad! I left the shoppe with the front of my hair about one inch long.... combine that with long one length hair and what do you have? Ugly! LOL I need to go back to cutting my own hair!
Do you know they charge to dry your hair? and they charge if they use a round brush to dry your hair with? and they charge to curl your hair so they can try to figure out a nice style out of their mess? Geesh! Beauticians

Looking for an old friend

A million years ago in the mid 1970's I was blessed to hear and meet a Christian musician named Rick Eldridge who is from Mount Holly, NC. I am wanting to get his CD's of his music. If anyone knows him or knows where I can get the CD's, please let me know! He was a blessing to me and my friends!

05 November 2008

Our Halloween babies!

Here are our furry babies: The blonde's name is Dylan (he was a rescue that no one wanted but us - someones loss!), James Bond (Sequoia - aka Bear-face because he looks like a loveable bear)our present rescue who is getting ready to have hip surgery), and the devil (King - rescued almost 12 years ago). Ain;t they gorgeous!

04 November 2008

Voting Day

I just got home from voting... spent 5 very long hours in line! I got there at 9:30am and voted 5 hours later when the line only had a 45 minute wait- and people were complaining! turns out my district is the 2nd largest district in the City of Norfolk and they only had 7 booths! Then one went down, then and only then did they bring in 2 more booths!

To the Elected President: you owe all of the 2nd largest District foot and body massages!!!!

To all the "Independent Party" delegates: How do you expect to even have a chance to win an election if you don't let people know you are running?

03 November 2008

Well isn;t that sweet.... it is going to rain on election day!

02 November 2008

For the last few months I have been becoming increasingly unhappy with my art style and with my art biz. I have started sketching a lot so I can get better and am trying new things. My husband says I should take some art lessons like watercolour so I can broaden my horizens so I will contact some of the local artists to see who gives lessons.

As for the biz end, I have an etsy shop but nothing seems to be selling. Could be the current economy, I don't know. I told my hubby today that I need to start making prints to sell instead of greeting cards, it is obvious that cards aren't selling. I won't stop selling them but they won't be the main focus. I have been researching the latest decorating styles so I could make some crafts that would fit in to sell. I know Primitive is big (nowadays Primitive is nothing like what Primitive was when I was decorating back in the day!) but so far what I have seen that type of decore isn't what I would use so I think I would have a hard time creating it.

At one point I was thinking of doing Home Shows in which what I bring with me is for immediately sale but that seems like it would really be hectic to constantly be making crafts instead of my art, I would need a huge inventory and I don't have that kind of money. Then I would have to come up with ideas of things to make. I have considered taking other peoples crafts to sell and I get a percentage but so far no one seems interested. I do have some art for sale through

and l

but sales are slow to nothing. I did an arts and crafts show and that was a flop, will prolly try another one eventually. So I am at a loss as what direction to go into. I have read some of the artists bios and they say that they were approached by companies about liscensing their work... wish I knew how to get into their viewing sight! Ah well, I guess I need to contemplate and research some more._________________

Symptoms of heart attack in women

Being of a certain age in which people are more prone of having a heart attack, I decided to look up symptoms of attacks in women because it has come to my attention that the symptoms in women are different. This is what I found:
"Every year hundreds of thousands of women die as the result of a heart attack or other cardiovascular disease.

What many people, including many healthcare professionals, don't realize is that the symptoms of heart attack in women are often different than in men. Women are more likely to experience nausea, dizziness, and anxiety as symptoms that indicate a heart attack.
Chest pain-may also include back pain and/or deep aching and throbbing in one or both arms.
Breathlessness and/or inability to catch your breath when waking up.
Clammy sweating.
Dizziness--unexplained lightheadedness, possible blackouts.
Anxiety--unusual nervousness, feelings of impending doom.
Edema--fluid retention and swelling usually of the ankles or lower
Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in women and it is the most preventable cause of death. Women should pay particular attention to these symptoms and seek immediate advice from a healthcare professional if these symptoms occur.

Cell phone advertising!

Yesterday I received a text commercial from my bank! I couldn't believe it! I never gave them permission to do anything like that and I wasn't going to put up with it! At the end of the message there was a note that says if you don't want to text then text a message saying NO. I did then I called the bank and gave them whatfore! How dare they send a message via the cell phone! We, the owners, have to pay for the texts! I then called the bank and gave them a piece of my mind about the situation and do you know what they said?

"We are allowed to refund $.20 to your account for the message." $.20 for a message that was fairly long? And the thing that really got me: she said that this is a new wave of business advertisement that a lot of businesses are now starting to use!
I think we, the citizens, need to stand up against this nonsense! I'm thinking of calling my Congressman and Senators to stand against this! If you believe as I do then start making your calls!

Autumn and art

Autumn winds are finally here playing with the leaves and wind chimes! I love this time of year! I've always loved this time of year: colors are sharper, winds are cooler, the warm clothes dance out of storage and keep me warm! We usually head up to the mountains to view the color change but it doesn't look like we will be doing that this year because I am working. I guess I forgot to pencil in some personal time...

I do have some problems with this season:

~ the days get shorter

~ the hot water in the shower doesn't seem to get as warm or last as long as it did just last week!

~ the Fibromyalgia likes to flare up

But there are so many good things about the season:

~ abundance of fruit

~ cool winds

~ sharp colors

~ hot chocolate

~ imagination swells

~ bazaars, art shows, gem shows

Artist musings

I tend to create pictures for the season I am in instead of artwork that can be made into greeting cards starting in the next season or in six months.

I have decided that I need to reorganize my thoughts and directions of my art. I need to find a way to get my name and art "out there." I think I will need to quit being so tight handed with my money and get some pictures matted and framed. Seems to me people do like to buy art that way, especially originals.

Gotta think, gotta think.......

15 October 2008

What jewel are you?

If you were to decide what jewel you are what would it be?
I didn't even think about this one, I am a pearl! Why? A pearl is made when a piece of sand got inside an oyster and irritated the nonsense out of the oyster until it took action and began to work on getting rid of the pain. Well, I don't know about you but I have some irritants inside me that I am working on making the pain go away. Hopefully I will take care of them, face the pains and turn out to be as precious as a pearl!

13 October 2008

And it is only the beginning of the week!

Ugh! I am feeling yucky or puny as my hubby says! Last week the Doc put me onn Tetracycline for a bacterial infection and the longer I tookk it the worse I felt! And I didn't feel bad before I started! Anyhow, I have run the gammet from heartburn to nausea and have been guzzling Pepto Bismal. I called the Doc and he is calling in another anti biotic. Feeling bad is bad enough but I am doing a pet sitting job this week and you know as well as I do that one feels better when at home. Oh well, at least I am making money!

I am taking care of four dogs (2 greyhounds, a golden something, and I can't remember what the other dog is) and they are all soooooo cute! I love greyhounds! I am also taking care of 5 cats, two birds, and keep a bunch of outside ferral cats in food and water. Sounds like a lot of work but it isn't as bad as you think. The good thing is I can work on my art while there.

Today I found out that two dogs I took care of not too long ago passed on. They were both fairly up there in age. One dog was found to be bleeding in her stomach and had to be put down, the other had a heart attack and died. I shall miss them.

And today is only Monday!

Reality and Contemplation.

I tried to put this lovely lady at the end of my post but she insisted on being first. She is a sweet gal so I let here have her way.

Phew! Finally a day in which I am not required to be flying around doing necessities then hurry off to do a companion job! It seems every day this week I have had someone having to go to the Docs or Vets. I had to go yesterday for a check up, found out I have a bacterial infection in my armpits (how did that happen?) and the doc thinks I have arthritis of the knees! Ha! How did that happen? Growing old sucks! He did say I need to go to a runners store and get a good pair of shoes to correct whatever is going on with my feet so I will be able to run without knee pain.

As much as I love my artwork, I have decided to add a variety of new items to my line up. I am going to go back into working with wood and make all kinds of crafts and designs for decorating. I am in the process of researching what is the popular type of decore for this time. If anybody has any ideas and/or knows of any good websites that would help me out, please feel free to let me know!

I have been working dilligently on crocheting a Christmas afghan for a while... I lost count of the number of rows and as a result I have made the afghan a bit larger than normal. Hopefully that will be finished soon so I can move on to another one.

Has anyone noticed a slowing in sales since this Wall Street/bank credit fiasco hit? I can't judge because I wasn't selling much before it hit. I must admit I have no understanding of the goings on of Wall Street other than it is extremely easy to lose money if your agent isn't good or on the up and up. I suppose I should take the initiative to learn about it all but me and numbers don't mix real well and Wall Street is all about numbers!

07 October 2008

I have just joined a new (to me) Blog site called Blogher. It is mainly for women... hey, I fit that category! Looks like it should be fun! I am always looking for ways to meet new people and ( okay, I am trying to remember the word I was about to type... oh well, it will come to me in the wee wee hours!) Not socialize though I do want to do that! Argh!

05 October 2008

Dog story!

What a day!!!!! One of the dogs I was sitting decided to get into mischief when I wasn't looking.... found a bag of chocolate candy bars and scarfed it paper and all! I was freaking out because I know chocolate is toxic to dogs! The Vet at the Emergency Vet said to give her a Tbsp of Hydrogen Peroixide every 10 to 20 seconds until she starts barfing.... took about a minute and then most of the bag and papers came up! Ewwwwww..... then I had to clean it up out of the yard so the other two dogs didn't decide to join in the party! Yeah, that was fun... NOT! I spent the rest of the day keeping a close eye on the naughty dog until her owners arrived. Turns out she often gets into stuff that is left on the counter... They weren't upset about it because they scheduled another weekend trip!

It's been a week since I've been able to post here, I was pet sitting at a house that didn't have wireless. I finished the job on Friday, started a one night job on Saturday and participated in an Arts and Crafts Show. Unfortunately there was a low show up therefore few of us made any money. I made one sale and that didn't cover the booth charge which was only $15! I think I'm going to have to rethink doing such shows. We'll see.

My art

I love my artwork, creating art that makes people oooo and aaahhhhh and think. My art is a form of therapy for me to help me through the sometimes difficult times that I sometimes endure due to being ill with Panic Disorder, Fibromyalgia, and a few of her ugly step-sisters. Many people have told me that my art helps them through hard times and that is a blessing for me!

I am not working through any of the well-known or unwell-known companies, just me, myself, and my hubby who does some of the corrections via the computer that need to be fixed. I keep looking for a way to get my greeting cards out there.

Here I am?????

I have just finished a weekend of pet sitting jobs and am home now, but not for long, I start another job tomorrow that will last a week. Luckily the house isn't far from my house so I will easily be able to come home and get things ready for the Craft show on Saturday. As if that isn't enough, I start a new weekend pet sitting job on Saturday. I am now entering a very busy Pet Sitting time of the year because the holidays are coming. Shucks, I am already booking jobs for January!

26 September 2008

Well, we made it through that Nor'Easter without any damamge that I know of. It was very windy and lots of heavy rains. I must admit I like a good storm! Before I began taking meds ofr Panic Disorder I could forecast a storm (rain or snow) because I would get hyper and goofy. Now that fun is over.

Things are about to get hectic here, I have a handful of pet sitting jobs (one of which is weeklong), getting ready for a craft show, participating in a craft show, and another pet sitting job, then I am substituting for a lady for a week doing a Companion job. I tired just thinking about it!

The Great Etsy Challenge!

I have just signed up for the Great Etsy Challenge! I need everyone to vote for me! Go to :

http://etsychallenge.blogspot.com/ click on my pic that is on that site! Would really like to win!

I got a call today from my BIL letting me know that my sister is in the hospital having suffered a stroke and her son, the fellow I told you about that has bad diabetes and total kidney failure, is in the hospital also having had a stroke last Friday! He was in hospital for a few days then they let my sister know he had been transferred to a Rehabcenter. And now she is in the hospital with a stroke.I spent a few hours with her and her hubby this evening. She is so far pretty good. Everything seems to be fine except her speech is slurred. There is a possibility that her speech may recover. As for my nephew,we know nothing at this time.

Help a dog (and a starving artist! LOL)

My husband and I are a part of a no-kill dog rescue, we provide a foster home for dogs who are in danger of being put down. This group does not have a facility but depends on people to provide foster homes for the dogs and depends on donations so we can provide food and vet care. I have decided to donate a percentage of all my sales on my etsy shop

to this rescue. Please feel free to visit my site, shop, and know that you are helping a wonderful dog! Or you can check out the site: http://www.msplinks.com/MDFodHRwOi8vd3d3Lms5bmV3bGlmZS5jb20v
to make a donation.

There is a picture of our latest foster dog, Sequoia, right under the heading NEWS (see pic above)

... he is such a funny mess! We love him! He is also listed under "Dogs for adoption." He is such a loving goofball! He loves to sit in my hubby's lap and kisses him and lays his head on hubbys shoulder and look lovingly up at him.

Rainy Days

I suppose some people dislike rainy days, I know I have in the past, but today is different. Today I am reminded of the years I spent living in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains in Upstate New York. I was attending a Bible School and we lived in the school's trailor park which was totally surrounded by woods. When my children were very young I would rock them to sleep in the living room and enjoy the view of a large path that disappeared into the woods. So peaceful. and on certain days there would be a heavenly scent of pine trees and autumn woods.

I do miss those days except for the bugs and the extremely long winter months! But I can always forgive that because my mind focuses on the beauty of God's creation.

Sometimes still I find myself mentally wandering the hallways of the School (it is an beautiful old building once used as TB retreat), hearing the songs from the chapel, then out walking inthe fields and woods. Ah, yes, in Spring I would wander the roads and pick Lily of the Valleys which grew wild along the sides of the roads. Sometimes I get home sick for the area.

New card in my shop!

Sorry I haven't been here in a while but I just got back from a Pet/House sitting job and I couldn't get on line. The Client didn'thave wireless and their computer just didn't want to work. While there I created two new cards! I just uploaded one of them: The Angel ofTwilight! (www.aheartofmersea.etsy.com) She is so pretty if I do say so myself! I have another card, a Christmas card, that I am still trying tofinish. She should be up soon!

A week away working.

I arrived home last evening after a week pet sitting job. This was an easy situation but still being away from home and staying at someone elses home always wears me down. I was gone 8 days, got some artwork done and now have to scan them and fix any blunders I may have made... working with color pencils can be a bit trying because if you make a mistake you may not be able to fix it unless it is done on a computer.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get online at the clients house, she didn't have wireless and her computer must have gone on vacation, too because it wouldn't do a thing! Therefore I wasn't able to get online. Maybe one of these days I will be able to get one of those gadgets that enables me to be online no matter where I am!

I wasn't feeling right when I came home last evening, light headed and a bit dizzy. Do you know how weird it feels to ddrive when feeling 'blonde?' LOL I must admit that no matter how short a sitting job is, I always come home fatigued, but it is always great to come home!

Mc Cainisms

I watched most of John McCains acceptance speech last night and I must admit my favorite slip up was when he was talking about his running mate: " She uses her hands and nose..." LOL he meant she works with her hands and knows ....

Looks like we will have lots of interesting remarks to giggle over if John Mc Cain wins! Move over Bush.... well, maybe no one can top the giggle list that Bush has created, that would be a hard bar to jump!

Posting pictures

For some silly reason I am having a very hard time posting pictures here on my blogspot! I've tried everything but to no avail. And today I can't even delete a post.... is blogspot having problems? anybody know?

This is something that can't be ignored

Dear CBN Staff: As a follow-up to our Labor Day Prayer gathering, I am again sharing with you the details of the special call to prayer for the upcoming season. Please be faithful in your prayer for this pending and grave situation... Russia’s vicious dismemberment of the tiny nation of Georgia is the beginning of an unfolding sequence of Soviet aggression. At present, pipelines from Siberia that run through Russia supply the majority of natural gas and oil used by Western Europe and Ukraine. A pipeline from the Caspian Sea has been bringing one million barrels a day of non-Russian oil through Georgia to Turkey and the Mediterranean Sea. Russia wants to control all of those vital pipelines. Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, is only 578 miles from Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. Russia has helped neighboring Iran build its two aggressive nuclear facilities. Georgia and Iraq are now sandwiched between the dictatorships of Russia and Iran. It doesn’t take a genius to see that the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, wants to dominate Caspian oil and Persian Gulf oil to add to Russia’s own enormous supplies of oil and gas. If he succeeds, Russia will gain a stronghold over the economies of most of the world and can then act to bring America to its knees. Against that backdrop, consider what is happening in Iran. That nation is under the domination of a fanatical group of Shiite Muslim clerics. The president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is a fervent believer in the Mahdi, a mythical messiah figure who, according to his belief, will come to make the entire world Muslim, but only after a period of worldwide chaos and destruction during which all the Jews will be killed. Iran, despite warnings from the United Nations, is on an accelerated course to build nuclear facilities and an atomic bomb. The Iranians recently test fired an improved intermediate range ballistic missile, the Shahab III, that is capable of carrying nuclear warheads to hit Israel, Iraq, and most of Europe. Ahmadinejad has repeatedly expressed a desire to use nuclear weapons to annihilate the nation of Israel. He has declared that the threat of nuclear retaliation from Israel against Iran does not concern him because tens of millions of Iranian deaths will merely hasten the coming of the Mahdi. In the nineteen thirties, a similar fanatic named Adolf Hitler made clear his diabolic plan. The Allied Powers, France and Great Britain, could easily have stopped Hitler but they scoffed at his pretensions. In 1945, only after World War II and fifty million tragic deaths did the free world recognize the cost of its indifference to the clear warnings from Hitler’s own speeches and published writings. In 2008, the nation of Israel does not have the luxury of ignoring the ravings of a fanatic who soon will possess nuclear bombs with a will to use them. The Western powers want to talk and negotiate with Russia and Iran, but talk is futile. When Russia moves again to crush a neighbor or enter the Middle East, and when Iran develops an atomic bomb, time for talk will be over. The Western powers have left Israel no choice but to strike Iranian nuclear facilities now. However, it seems to me, and to our CBN News Bureau Chief in Jerusalem, that Israel will not want to commence actions against Iran until after the United States elections have taken place. Then Israel must make a preemptive strike against the Iranian nuclear reactors by air or submarine-launched cruise missiles during the brief period between the US elections until the inauguration of a new US president. But here is the downside for Israel. In Lebanon, on Israel’s northern border, the radical group known as Hezbollah has, along with Iranian help, completely re-armed and now possesses as many as 40,000 rockets targeting Israel. To the south of Israel, in the Gaza, another Iranian client, Hamas, is armed to the teeth and longing for an opportunity to strike Israel. Of course, an Israeli attack will trigger a counter blow from Iran and possibly Syria. But these are not the only dangers. Would Russia then consider hostilities (such as I have outlined) the excuse to enter the fight on trumped-up reasons in order to further its ultimate aim of controlling Middle East oil? As the potential conflict spreads, oil terminals would be engulfed in smoke and flames. The Straits of Harmuz would be blocked, and with it 60 percent of the world’s oil. United States industry would face collapse and a devastating depression would descend upon America and Western Europe. What if the United States decided to oppose the Russian expansion? The Russians have enough long-range nuclear-tipped ballistic missiles aimed at the United States to annihilate all of our cities. Would we be willing to play a nuclear game of chicken with Russia to save Israel? Probably not. Would the United States risk war with Russia over Middle East oil? Perhaps, but unlikely. If we act, it is ugly. If we don’t act, our economy could either be crippled or faced with continually escalating exactions demanded by Russia for oil. About 2600 years ago, God gave the Prophet Ezekiel a description of an invasion of Israel after the Jews had been regathered to the Promised Land from all over the world in the “latter days.” Ezekiel wrote of an invasion force led by Russia that would include Iran and “Cush,” which is Sudan. The other parties described by Ezekiel that constituted the invading force could include some of the Muslim nations in the former Soviet Caucasus region and possibly Turkey. According to Ezekiel, they would come seeking “plunder and loot.” What greater plunder than the oil riches of the Persian Gulf? Will this unfold all at once? It’s difficult to say. But what is clear is this… The Israeli strike against Iran will be the trigger. From then on, dramatic events will follow in quick succession. It all will conclude when God has rained fire on the islands of the sea and on the invading force coming against Israel. Where will the United States be in all of this conflict? According to Ezekiel, the “young lions of Tarshish” will be questioning the Russians about their aggression…questioning, but not acting to stop it. Who are these “young lions of Tarshish?” Tarshish was the region beyond Cadiz in Spain. In antiquity, explorers from Tarshish came to Ireland, then across the ocean to North America, traveling the Mississippi River as far as the present day site of Davenport, Iowa. I believe the term “young lions of Tarshish” refers to England and the United States of America. According to Ezekiel, when the Middle East trouble begins, the United States government will warn Russia and Iran, but refuse to act. We will suffer grave economic damage, but not military action in the conflict. However, we may not be spared nuclear strikes against coastal cities. In conclusion, it is my opinion that we have between 75 and 120 days before the Middle East starts spinning out of control. If there was ever a time for fervent prayer, it is now. Prayer can change the course of history! The Bible says, “Seek righteousness. Seek humility. That you may be hid in the day of the Lord’s wrath… The fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” The believing prayers of tens of thousands of God’s people can change the hearts of the leaders of Russia and Iran. God can cause situations to arise which will save Israel. He is Almighty. With God all things are possible! CBN is planning thirty days of prayer before the United Sates election. The stakes for the world in the next couple of years are beyond description. Please prepare your heart for earnest prevailing prayer. Hopefully, our Lord will intervene and head off the disaster that seems to be approaching. Let us pray together. With God all things are possible. God bless you. I remain…Sincerely,Pat M. G. “Pat” RobertsonChairman/The Christian Broadcasting Network, Inc.

I have been working on a border for a Christmas card I am going to make and I had a grand idea: Make the borders then scan them that way I won't have to continualously be creating borders and can concentrate on the pictures! If I remember correctly Mary Engelbreit said she does that too. Cool! I love making borders so that will be fun but it will be so nice to be able to pick a border I already have that will go nicely with the picture that is being born

Thursday and Friday

I celebrated my 52nd Birthday! I went to lunch with my youngest son, had a pedicure at the Spa he manages, my sons got together and gave me a gift certificate for the spa, hubby created a masterful stuffed crust pizza, and we watched Star Trek and 24 on DVD. This was a very relaxing birthday!

My husband is in the process this morning of uploading some pictures to Ellen Million Graphics

to be sold on all kinds of cool products: baby clothes, tee shirts, mugs, tea bags, purses, etc etc etc. Go check out her site! It is marvelous!

I still can't get use to having a French Manicure on my toes! I never wear toe exposing shoes!

I swannee, you gotta just love politics... Sometimes I think some of the worlds unintelligent people open up their doors so all the world can see into their world. I will speak right now about Senator McCain since it was him I just read about. He was really smart to pick a woman as his running mate, that way he can try to steal the Hillary's women voters who are upset that Hillary didn't win. Smart that he picked a woman, but what was he thinking! Here McCain has been pointing the finger at Obama claiming he was too inexperienced to be Prez, so what does he do? He picks a woman (Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin ) who doesn't have much experience either! She dissed the VP job saying it wasn't a productive job and on top of that she is being investigated because she ordered the dismissal of Alaska's public safety commissioner because he would not fire her former brother-in-law as a state trooper.
Yes, Obama has had his 15 minutes in the "WHAT IN THE WORLD?" fame but.... Oye Vay
Ain't Politics great...

Where is Jerry Garcia when ya need him?

Someone asked me how I get inspired to so my artwork. Well, a lot of pictures are taken from things that actually happened to me and I put them on paper. Some pictures are strickly made to be used as cards. Then I like to do faeries and angels. I am one who loves to look through books and magazines and undoubtedly an idea will fly into my mind. I collect all kinds of books: art books by artists, Mary Engelbreit, decorating books, hair styling books, sketch books, and I like to create "Inspirational Journals" in which I cut and glue pictures of things that speak to my heart into a notebook so later on down the road I have these journals to fall back on. I also collect cards that I fall in love with and glue them into a notebook. Lots of Inspiration at my fingertips!

Sleepy day

It is sooooo beautiful out! Autumn weather! The temps won't get higher than 80 so they say, it is cloudy and there is a sweet breeze. I love this weather but when I am tired like I am today I keep dozing off. Makes it a bit hard to draw when I'm sleepy!

Wanting input

I am going to do my first Arts and Craft Show in a Church on October 4.It is small and will last only four hours. I have an 8x8 space and amcontemplating ideas on how to make the most of that sized space. I would love all the input I can get!

I am also thinking of creating a costume to wear. Can't be a Mermaid cuz I might have to walk around but a Faerie would be cool! I justdon't know how the Church peeps will take it.

Christmas cards!!!!!

I have added several Christmas cards to my Etsy shop

I am offering them 10 for $16 that way they will get two free cards for the price of 8.

Most of the Christmas cards are the cards I created in the last few years to send to friends and family and every one loved them so now I am extending them to everyone!

The Pizza World has gone bonkers!!!!!

I just called and ordered two pizzas and they wanted $40!!!! $40!!!!! For two pizzas!!!!!

Come on, gas prices aren't high enough to cause that much of a jump! A year ago I use to buy 2 pizzas for $22.00!

Okay, I am calming down now. I definitely will never order anything from that restaurant again!!!!

Email Addies

I am looking for a new email addie. I have gmail and yahoo but I am looking for something for something new. Anybody have any ideas?

Christmas cards!!!!!

I have just added Christmas cards to my Etsy Shop!

Come and see!

I am going to be sooooo sore tomorrow! My normal exercize regime is swimming one mile a day 5-6 times a week. Well, the pool has been closed for almost 2 weeks and it shows! So, last night I was thinking about things and decided I am going to go back to running and do both. My husband and I went out together today and we walked/ran for three miles. I love the high I get from running, it is just the pain that pops up later that I don't like! And being a Fibromite it hurts extra! I asked hubby why I had stopped running in the first place and he reminded me that it was the bottoms of my feet that hurt so bad that I couldn't barely stand on the them. Oh yeah, I remember now. Fibro pain hurts wherever it wants to whenever it wants to. I have a friend who cracks up at the different pains I get, she calls it "Julia's strange pains!"

Well, I have always enjoyed being eclectic....

I found the directions to upload but this is how it looks. Took it from my Etsy Shop... why does it look like this?

Cards, pictures, and need help!

I thought I had finished the latest Christmas card but for some reason when we printed it out the skin tones washed out. Didn't look right so this morning I have spent about an hour working in it. Hopefully what I have done will do the trick! I am really tired of working on this picture! Well, pictures are like children, sometimes they test and try you and drive you nuts! LOL

I've been so busy on that picture that I haven't had time to add some of my other Christmas cards to my Etsy Shop! As soon as the hubster gets done with this latest picture I'll be able to add some of the others. I can't do it from the laptop yet but hopefully in the near future I will.

Now I have to figure out how to add pictures to my blog. Whenever I hit the picture button, it does absolutely nothing. Anybody got ideas?

Attention! People looking for Christmas cards!

I am adding a line of Christmas cards today to my Etsy Store:

Keep an eye on that shop! You've never seen cards like this before!

I got a new toy!!!!!

I went by Jerry's Artarama to pick up some new Derwent colorsoft color pencils and discovered two things: the type of art paper I like best (Bristol Smooth paper) and Art S. Buck Artist's Model! I had bought one of the smaller wooden ones and it wasn't life like enough for me, but this one was an actual human form- I got the female ( it cost $20 and use females mostly any how, maybe later I will pick up the man ... LOL that didn't sound right, did it!) They didn't have it in caucasion or African American, all they had was grey... Grey! Must be a replica of my old body! Ha ha! Anyhow I have been playing with the form to see what positions I can get it into. I just may have found a great tool for me because my peeps never are correct...

What color am I?

You Are a Blue Crayon
Your world is colored in calm, understated, deep colors. You are a loyal person, and the truest friend anyone could hope to find.On the inside, you tend to be emotional and even a bit moody. However, you know that people depend on you. So you put on a strong front.Your color wheel opposite is orange. Orange people may be opinionated, but you feel they lack the depth to truly understand what they're saying.

In reality I do love blues, but I love twilight colors which include violets and greens.

Visiting a meandering mind

What a glorious day it was yesterday and the weatherpeeps are saying today is to be the same! If only every Summer day could be like this! It is warm with cool breezes! When I was young I loved the HOT HOT HOT weather, back when I had a figure that would look good wearing a bikini! If I were to wear one now.... we won't go there! LOL

I am presently working on a Christmas mermaid card. I am hoping to have at least three new cards to add to my gathering of Christmas cards to sell. I will be adding the Christmas cards to my Etsy shop very soon.

Had my car worked on yesterday: motor mounts, back brakes, and few other major/minor things ... came to $700! :O Well gotta have my car unless I could find a magic carpet or a Harry Potter type car!

I saw on the news the other night about a man who added some kind of new fangled thing that gives cars twice the mile per gallon mileage. The gadget makes the car run on water and baking soda. Now that would be great to get that kind of mileage! But I got to thinking... there are many places in the world that have a water shortage and could use some of the water we use and/or waste sothis contraption would be using up valuable water that poor countries need. Well, it seems that no matter what we use it could be used for better purpose elsewhere.

I have been trying to post a picture of our latest foster dog but for some reason it won't work so I posted the website of a picture of him . Some where in this dog's life he was hit by a vehicle and the owner never did anything to get him medical help so he has to have a hip replacement and work on the leg. Unfortunately K-9 New Life ( the no-kill dog rescue we work with) doesn't have the funds so he can have the operation needed, all the money we get goes to feeding, vet care, and neutering/spaying the dogs we get. So we are now starting a fund raiser to get the money for Sequoia this operation. It will cost around $2000 I think. If anyone is interested in helping out please go to http://www.k9newlife.com/ and make a donation.

I have been wanting to add pictures to my blog but all my pics are on my computer and not (yet) on my laptop. Once I get them added to the laptop then I will attempt to post some.

Well, guess I'd best head out of cyberspace and get some stuff done. Have a great day!

19 August 2008

I just read an article saying that this particular person didn't think Michael Phelps will have the 'staying' power of advertising that Tiger Woods has because swimming is an event that draws the world crowds once every four years. They said the athletes that have endorsements long term are those in sports such as football, golf, baseball, basketball, wrestling - sports that are seen every year. Don't get me wrong, I like to watch some sports, but maybe Phelps will help bring swimming to the forefront. It really would be a great thing to have a non-violent sport for children to get interested in.

And as for J-Lo, she thinks that she is the athlete worth watching not 'that swimmer'...
excuse me? She said she is in training for a triatholon six months after giving birth to twins but everyone is too busy watching the Olympics to notice. Can you join me is saying: "Awwww poor J-Lo! It must be hard to be upstaged by real athletes...

Life in my house

All day today my hubby tried to reach me on the land line and couldn't so he called me on my cell, said the phone was busy. Interesting, I wasn't home. When I did arrive home I looked about for the phone and found it under one of the cats butt which had clicked on the Talk button....

Later I was rolling some yarn to get it ready to crochet into an afghan, got up to go to the kitchen, came baack to find our foster dog running with a skein of yarn in his mouth! I swannee... you never know what is going to happen in this house!

New Faerie Magazine!

I found a new Faerie Magazine!

I ordered one magazine to see how it is. Maybe if I like it I will get a subscription. It is coming over from England so it may take a while to get here.

A Slow Down

I have had a busy summer with my pet sitting business ( you know, the one that started all by itself!) and now I have a little down time to relax. Of course that could change at any time. I got a few pics created during the busy time because I brought my art supplies with me but now I can relax and create and catch up on some sleep! Come the end of September I will be mega busy for about three weeks.

The life of a garden gnome.

I have this garden gnome who takes care of our tiny corner garden. For years he has been faithful to take care of his little patch. This summer he has decided he wanted to do things different. I just got his note that he is off on his THIRD VACATION! THIRD!!!! LOL The first vacation he went to Atlanta. Ga and he brought back a photo album. The second vacation he went to the West Coast and drove from San Franscisco to Portland Oregon (which is the same vacation my husband and I took last Fall) and brought back a photo album, and now his Cousin sent him tickets for G. Norm to visit him! I can hardly wait to see where he has been to this time! LOL

Now if he decides to go to the Olympics he had better take me with him!!!!!!!

Looking for gifts to give?

If you are starting to look for gifts to give at Christmas or for a birthday, go visit these stores!

Take a look at my etsy shop....new pic!

My latest picture that I have added is named "Lily." I named her after a friend who was a single mother and she was working full time and going to school full time at night so she could better herself and be able to take care of her baby. I really admire a person who does all they can to better themselves even when the odds are against them!

Check out my Etsy Shop!

For some reason the pictures wouldn't post but here is the addie for my shop:

This will help people come see my artwork and crafts that are up for sale! You'll be helping to keep an artist from starving! LOL

Here it is Wednesday already!

Sometimes I am amazed at how fast time goes by! I remember being in high school and time went by so slow that it made me crazy! Now I yawn and a week has gone by! LOL

Today I went to my Pet Sitting Clients house to get the keys and update the info for the weekend job. I am looking forward to going back there - they have a pool and they are situated on a river near the Virginia Beach shore! They have three crazy dogs that love to swim with me in the pool, they are always fun! And doing weekend jobs like this is actually good for me because I often get inspired to create some art.

I have started a series of flower faeries/angels pictures. I want to write poetry that will go along with the pictures. I am hoping that in the future I will publish a book with art and poetry.

26 July 2008

Here's my Saturday!

Today I spent hours on the computer networking, took care of a neighbors cat and garden, continued some research on meanings of flowers, hubby and I visited a friend and swam in her pool, came home to discover that our garden gnome has taken off on another adventure (last time he went to Atlanta, Ga) the note he left said this time he will be flying so he is all excited! Hubby just left with the latest foster dog to deliver our neighborhoods Civic league news flyer, and I am back on the computer.

Tonight we will eat and watch the X Files then walk the dogs. Not a bad day at all!

Home again!

I am now at home! The client got home a few days earlier than expected. My first night home I slept until 11 when my friend was to meet me at my house so we could ride together to the Gem Show in Virginia Beach! I must have really been tired! Next day I slept until 9 and then today I was up at 8:30. Even though there isn't a lot of work doing some of these jobs, I am discovering that it takes a lot out of me so it takes a few days to recoop.

Today I need to go back to the Gem Show to get my ring resized and then meet with a client to go over the info for taking care of her cats. the lady lives a few houses down the street from me and it isn't a House sitting job so I will be at home.

Got the results from the glucose test and I do not have diabetes! That is great! I was afraid I had it because most everyone in my family has diabetes but I am the only one that had Fibromyalgia.

I have been having problems with my feet for a few months so I went to the Doc about it. He checked my feet and said he thought it was just the Fibro giving me a hard time. He gave an Rx and I have to have a fasting blood test to check and make sure there isn't anything else going on. One of the things he is looking for is Porpheria which is what my Mom had. Hopefully everything will come back clear!

The saga continues...

Well, last night turned out to be an interesting one! First I was going to let the dogs out for thier last chore of the evening - about 11 and as I headed into the porch I tripped and fell down two steps and landed on the floor! I hurt my right wrist, both my ankles, and bruised my left hip and right knee!As if that wasn't bad enough when I let the dogs out two of them found a way to get out of the yard and took off! One showed up about 15 minutes later, called my hubby and he came out to help look for Kiwi, and called the clients to find out where her normal place she runs to. They said don't worry she will show up in about an hour. She did. I called my husband who was scoping out the neighborhood looking for her and let him know she was back so he went home. I put the dogs in the house and then got in the pool. I love to swim in a darkened pool and right then I needed to relax!

Today my husband came over with some fencing, found the spot the dogs snuck out and hopefully fixed it so they won't get out again. Of course I am not going to give them the opportunity again... I am going to put Kiwi on the line whenever she goes out! After finishing the fence, my hubby and I swam and played in the pool. One of the dogs is a die hard tennis ball player and loved for us to throw the ball into the pool so he could dive in and get it. It really was fun! Very relaxing.

Tonight I will watch TV and crochet. Very relaxing. Just what I need!

Hi everyone! Wow it has been a long time since I have been able to get on-line! I started a Pet sitting job a week ago yesterday and one of the cats was very sick, he has conjestive heart failure and renal failure, he was stable but she wasn't sure the cat would make it through the week (he did very well and was still alive when I left him last night.) For some reason the client decided she didn't want me connecting my laptop to her system. Once I got there and was settled I found that I couldn't do anything creative except crochet, I tried but just couldn't do it so I crocheted lace all week while watching Jane Austen movies. Then I experienced every sitters nightmare one day: I had chicken in the oven, stepped into the garage (after making sure the door wasn't set to lock) and when I went to go back in the door had locked itself! I checked with the neighbors to see if anyone had a key or knew where there was a spare (couldn't call client because she was out of the country!) and no one knew but I got a history as to why no one in the neighborhood liked my client... very strange! I called my husband and he headed out but I began to panic because it was time to get the chicken out so I called 911, hubby arrived at the same time the firetruck did and between them they got me in the house with very little damage. Get this, when I told the client what happened she started fussing and told me I was not to talk to the neighbors next door not the ones across the street... they are evil and I am not allowed to have them in her house! (?) Client was due to arrive at home last night, haven't heard anything from her yet but if I don't hear from her by noon I will head out to her house and take care of the cats. Another weird thing that happened a day after the first incident was when I went to put my earrings on one of them wasn't there. I looked everywhere in the bathroom which is where I had left them) including the drains, gave up and went to get another pair. Something caught my eye as I was getting my jewelry bag out of my suitcase: my earring was underneath the lamp in the bedroom! Have no idea how it got from point A to point B!I started a new job yesterday and this one is great! Very peaceful, situated on the river and has a swimming pool! I am watching three of the sweetest dogs and one sweet cat. I will be here for a little over 2 weeks. And I have already been able to pick up a pencil and draw! So glad to be in this house! And so glad to be able to get online again!God is good!

Jobs, Fibro, Art, Swimming, and Smoke

I started doing Pet Sitting this past Spring and it has really taken off! I start a job on Saturday that will last one week. The job ends next Saturday and I start another job that starts the same day and will last three weeks ! I also have a Companion job that will start in August and I will sit from 8:30pm to 11:00pm M-W's. I sure wish my art biz would take off like this!

I am in the process now of putting together packets of samples to send to Card Companies, Printers, and Liscensing Companies to let them know I am available for some work. I hope this does well!

I am now in the process of writing poems to go with some of my artwork so I can create an art book of my own. It has been slow going but my mind is stretching because it has been a while since I have sat down and wrote poetry.

As for that Fibro nonsense, I went through a week or so when my feet hurt fromt he ankle down , felt like I was wearing ankle boots of pain. I had recently bought some new shoes and wondered if that could be the problem so I stopped wearing them. A day or so later it was gone, but I wanted to make sure it was the shoes so I wore the new shoes for about a day. I noticed a little pain but nothing much. I stopped wearing them again and about two days later my feet have started hurting again. I have a feeling it is a fibro thing and the new shoes just induced it. I think once my feet settle down I will have to go have some shoes fitted for me.

Today after I swim I need to go buy a new bathing suit to use for when I go to the beach and when I work out in the water, the one I have now is fine for swimming laps but when I do anything else it rides up... quite uncomfortable and aggravating!

My husband bought me a laptop! I can't wait until we can get it set up! We are having a time gettting the wireless router set up but he has someone at work who will give him directions.

We are still experiencing the rolling in of smoke from the Great Dismal Fire in Carolina. This has been going on for several weeks! One of my BIL's neighbors who live across the street from him is in direct line of the fire! A really heavy steady rain is needed to stop this fire! Let's pray they will get one ASAP!

Honor and Remember

A friend of mine lost his son last year in Iraq and while trying to cope with the loss he became aware that our country does not have a national symbol recognizing those that have lost their lives defending our country. When he approached our elustrious governmental officials about it he was promtly blown off so he has created a symbol (you may have seen it on the news recently) and is trying to collect enough names on a petition to have it officially recognized. Please take a moment to go to his web site www.honorandremember.org and sign his petition. Also let anyone else you might know about this as well. Thanks.

All kinds of businesses!

My side biz has been taking over a lot of my time lately and I have been trying to get back into my swimming routine (I had a cold and then had a proceedure done inside a nostril due to some blood vessels that broke through the skin and gave me nose bleeds). I do have several new pictures and am working on another. Hopefully this stream of artwork will continue! I am waiting for the laptop my hubby bought me so I can access the 'Net while at a pet sitting job and not have to use someone elses computer. I have an 18 day situation coming up soon and I am hoping and praying that the computer gets here before I have to go... the price of gas is so high that I can't just jump in the car and scoot across town to do what ever I want. I can't complain about the job because it does bring in much more income than my art biz but I am hoping that will change soon!

Something to pray about: NC really needs some rain! There is a wild fire that has been burning for over a week and the fire dept can't contain it. Every day now the Tidewater area (Norfolk, Chesapeake, Va Beach etc) are covered with smoke from these fires. It comes in waves and looks like we are living in pea soup fog! Also my BIL lives on the border of Va and NC in the Dismal

Other things you can pray about: that the negotiations with the Insurance company of the girl who hit me will come to an end with a proper settlement; that I will gain understanding on how to get my art biz profitable ( due to brain fog caused by Fibromyalgia I have a hard time remembering and understanding things).

Home at last!!!!!

I just finished up a week of Pet/Home Sitting and am exhausted! I caught a cold just before I went and it worked me over like a fighter in the ring! During that week I dealt with sinus problems, achies, coughing, had an in office proceedure at my ENT to have several veins that ruptured a while back and would cause nose bleeds, and you know when you are sick all you want to be is home! I made it through the week fine, just worn out. I came home yesterday and after pulling in my luggage I plopped on the bed and took a rest, then unpacked.

Over the week I did some sketching and created a new picture so I was able to rally up and make some art!

I recently bought a Pedometer to help with my exercizing. Came in handy over this last job because I had three dogs to walk so that helped immensely to let me know how many steps a day I had taken. I didn't always get the full 10,000 steps a day but a lot of the time I did. After getting up form my rest yesterday I took a walk in the neighborhood so I would get the 10,000 in. I couldn't find my ankle braces (I hve weak ankles) so while walking I ending up stretching a muscle or tendon or something! Nothing out of the usual there... I trip on air! LOL I'm not quite over the last ankle situation yet. One observation I have made is that I have been having problems on the right side of my body: ankle, nose, breast, and now my right eye is giving me fits! I have to call my Dr and have that checked out!

Okay, I need to go do my journaling now. Normally I do my journaling before I get on the computer because once I am on I have a hard time getting off then journaling gets slow because I have said a lot of the things I wanted to write down! Here I go and see if I can squeeze some more stuff out of my weary brain!

I have a short Pet sitting job this weekend, just about 4 days. I've worked there before and it is a laid back job. Later in the month I have another job then the beginning of July I begin an 18 day pet sitting job. Seems like the pet sitting situation is doing very well!

Congratulations to Senator Obama Barrack for winning the Democratic Nomination! I don't know as much as I would like about Senator Obama, research and prayer shall be required concerning him, but out of the two running I much preferred him to Clinton.... just my personal feelings. As for McCain...hmmm hmmm hmmm... I've always had problems with him.

While I was working my last job, my dear husband bought me a laptop that I can take with me when I am gone working! I am so very happy because I don't like using someone else's computer. During one job I used the clients computer and after they got back they went to use their computer it was dead! Turned out that after I left the job, the mother board died and the computer crashed! That was scary! I told hubby I wouldn't use another persons computer while on the job! Hence, I now have my very own laptop! I can't wait until it gets here so I can play on it!

Colds.... Grrrrrr

How does one get rid of a cold? I thought I was almost all over it and now it is acting up again. I went to the ENT Dr and had to have some blood vessels carterized and now I am acting like I have a head cold again! And I am on antibiotics because I have an infection!

I can't wait until I am home from this latest job so I can crawl into my own bed and get better!!!!!

Working while having a cold.... aaaaccchhhoooooo!!!!

I have been working a Pet/House sitting job for the past week. Somewhere along the line I came down with a mega cold and feel like I am hooked up to an electric current! I haven't felt like going online nor doing any artwork. I attempted to add some watercolor to a picture I drew in my Creative Art/Nature journal but at this point it doesn't look good. will have to try to fix that!

It has been literally years since I have had a cold so I am shocked at how it affects me! I think due to the fibromyalgia the symptoms are exaggerated ! I simply can't focus on anything, not a single thing! I just want to sit in the easy chair and nap and stare. When I try to do anything the mind just goes dull and blank. How in the world do people who have colds function at a full time job?

Today is my last day here. I go home this evening and stay there until Monday morning. I am normally have a Companion sitting client on Monday morning but I have a feeling I will have to find someone to do that job due to this nasty cold... I would hate to give him this cold. He doesn't need something like that to add to his problems! anyways, after that client I move to a new Pet/Home sitting job. I will be there for 8 days or so.

I will be spending some of the day straightening up the house so when the clients come homethey won't have anything to do but fall into the bed!

Orphan (art) Legistraton

I borrowed this from another site... very important that you read and sign the petitions! Us artists will lose what little bit of money we earn trying to copywrite every piece of art we make!

~Do you value art? How about the creators of the art?~

I work full time in a Deli slicing vegetables and meat and dealing with the public. Every day, either before or after work, I paint. My work sells but it takes me a long time to complete a painting. I love it and I won't stop until I am physically incapabable of doing this.

Currently there is a bill before US Congress which, if passed, will effectively steal my art. Some of my paintings could have sold several times over. People who request a certain piece after it has already gone are disappointed but often pleased that I can make a framed print or card for them. I get a little extra money for this. It helps.Suppplies cost. Galleries charge commissions. Shipping costs can be extravagant. If I have to add registration costs and TIME to this.....

This is not just about painters either. Any of you who have online photo albums or have ever entered a photograph into a competition are at risk. Companies will be able to simply use your photos, instead of paying an artist for work which they can then use in advertising.

Mark Simon, writing forAnimation World, explains the impact much better than I.

"Currently, you don't have to register your artwork to own the copyright. You own a copyright as soon as you create something. International law also supports this. Right now, registration allows you to sue for damages, in addition to fair value. What makes me so MAD about this new legislation is that it legalizes THEFT! The only people who benefit from this are those who want to make use of our creative works without paying for them and large companies who will run the new private copyright registries. These registries are companies that you would be forced to pay in order to register every single image, photo, sketch or creative work.It is currently against international law to coerce people to register their work for copyright because there are so many inherent problems with it. But because big business can push through laws in the United States, our country is about to break with the rest of the world, again, and take your rights away. With the tens of millions of photos and pieces of artwork created each year, the bounty for forcing everyone to pay a registration fee would be enormous. We lose our rights and our creations, and someone else makes money at our expense. This includes every sketch, painting, photo, sculpture, drawing, video, song and every other type of creative endeavor. All of it is at risk!If the Orphan Works legislation passes, you and I and all creatives will lose virtually all the rights to not only our future work but to everything we've created over the past 34 years, unless we register it with the new, untested and privately run (by the friends and cronies of the U.S. government) registries. Even then, there is no guarantee that someone wishing to steal your personal creations won't successfully call your work an orphan work, and then legally use it for free.In short, if Congress passes this law, YOU WILL LOSE THE RIGHT TO MAKE MONEY FROM YOUR OWN CREATIONS!"

If you care, if you think legislating theft is wrong, please let your congressman/woman hear your objections.online petition: http://www.petitiononline.com/dAvsOW/petition.html

Please help stop this!!!!!

I am a bit tired!

Things around our house are crazy! B left Thursday for a biz trip toPhoenix, AZ. The original trip was for 2 days but they decided to take a few extra days and go to the Grand Canyon. I wanted to go but itwould have been too expensive. That's okay, B needs some time away from stress. Now it gets really wild! B gets back Thursday, May 14. I start a pet/house sitting job on the 17th which is actually not too far away from home. I am there until the 24th. On the 26th I start a new pet/house sitting job and will be there until June 7th. Things will be quiet (at least at this point) until July 5 when I start a Pet/House sitting job that will last until July 23. This job includes an inground pool and it is on the river! My next pet/house sitting job is for Aug 1 - 3 same place! That is all I have scheduled at this moment. I do have a regular scheduled Monday companion job every week and there will be several other companion jobs that will pop up. And there may be some more pet/house sitting jobs that will come up. This is a great job but being away from home so much is hard. B and I do a lot of dating while I am away and that is fun! But I do miss him and DC a lot! I miss the dogs and Misty but B and DC most. I am hoping to get my hands on a laptop to be able to take with me but at this point I can only use the clients computer if they are comfortable about it. Some aren't. And some of my jobs are too far away from home to warrant driving home every day once to twice a day!

Meanwhile, I got a pedometer. I need some kind of exercize to do if I can't get to my regular workout pool and this one is great! It measures how many steps I take, the amount of time, how many aerobic steps taken, caloried burned, and keeps a record of each days stats. The goal is 10,000 a day. I got the pedometer yesterday and set out to get my 10,000... I walked around the neighborhood two different times, by bedtime I had gone 14,417! This morning my ankles and my butt cheeks are hurting... my buttcheeks! LOL I have been going through a flare-up for almost a month now. Some days I feel like someone is rubbing my skin with sandpaper especially whenI get into the not so warm water! Things have calmed down some pain wise but I go through bouts of fatigue. Well, can't have everything back to normal, right?

I am determined that I will have the office area cleaned and organized by the time B gets back. Yesterday I went through one of mybookcases and extremely thinned it out! When I first got separated I bought all kinds of journaling and writing books, tons of them! It was so intoxicating to be making money and not have someone getting the money! I did read some of each book and promised myself that I would finish reading each book. Some I did and some I didn't. Well, I knew I wasn't going to ever really get to them so I gathered them up and hurriedly took them to the CHKD Thrift store before I changed my mind. I still have a ton of books to go through but I put a major chunk in the cleaning! Told hubby last night and he asked if I had gone through the attic yet... wanted to smack him! LOL Guys!

I didn't go to the pool yesterday because I heard thunder when I got up and I wasn't about to go and then sit there and wait for permission to get into the pool. I may go today - it is sunny outright now.

May Days

The month of May has started and it is going to be a hectic one! Hubby is on a biz trip and I have two pet sitting jobs back to back which will keep me gone for most of the month! I have several other jobs coming up and I will be gone for those. I definitely need to invest in a laptop because some people prefer not to have guests use their computer and I have no clue when it comes to laptops! I have been researching but I am not understanding what in the world they are talking about! I guess the hubster will need to research and explain things to me so I will be able to make a decision about which to buy.

The weather today is quite Springlike and I am not going to complain! It is cloudy, light rain with peals of distant thunder. I won't be going to the pool this morning due to the thunder, everytime there is thunder heard we have to get out of the pool for a half hour... no sense in wasting my time sitting around there. I do have to take "King" our Border Collie to the Vet for a urine checkup because the bloodwork showed some kidney numbers were a bit high. I can take him anytime today so I will keep an eye on the weather station to see when I can scoot him to the Vet when it isn't storming. I also need to go to B&N to get a book I saw on Aqua Fitness so I can do more than just swim when at the pool. Right now I am impatiently waiting for my pedometer to come in the mail, I want to get started walking 10,000 steps a day - there is no way I can keep count manually because my rememberer isn't in good working mode these days!

Story about my latest haircut... I have always been one to cut the hair on the top of my head so I can curl it and poof it up. I hate to go to a salon and pay $12+ to get someone else to do it and then not be able to know if they cut it right because they will no long dry and curl hair so we can tell if it was done right so I do it myself. So the other day I got out the scizzors and trimmed it up.... a lot! I still have some perm left in the hair but not much! LOL I did over trim but that is normal for me. I use to get all upset with myself when I cut my hair too short but I have reached that age where I can look in the mirror and say "Oh well, it will grown out." (Yep, getting old...) Now I look at my hair and think "I sure hope I can get that hair around the tiny curling rod!)"

Hubby and I went camping over this past weekend and when we came back we had a funny surprise waiting for us! I have a gnome standing guard over my corner garden and he was gone but there was a note left: "Don't worry, the weather was so nice that I decide to take a short trip. Will be back in about a week. Love, your gnome." I totally cracked up! We use to do this type of thing on the Ya-Ya forum, we would hijack someones gnome, send it to all kinds of Y-Ya's who would take pictures of themselves with the gnome then send it to another gal. In the end the gnome would be returned home with a photo album full of pictures of the gnome in all the various cities and states he had visited! Hubby said if it wasn't going to rain we should put a note on the corner telling the gnome to make sure he brings back pictures! LOL

Birthday, swimming, scooter, and walking

Today I want to wish my youngest son a very happy birthday! Where has all the time gone?

I think I will be in the market for a scooter so I can get great gas mileage so I can continue to work out at the pool! Every time I get behind the wheel a wave of guilt washes over me because I am using so much gas just to go swim! To justify that statement, I swim between one and two miles 5-6 days a week. I am a mermaid, donchaknow!

I have decided I need to do more walking as exercize so I bought a pedometer. This one will keep tabs on my steps, calories, regular steps, aerobic steps, and keep a spread sheet of what I have done every day! I think if I have that I will walk more. Sometimes I do go walking but then I get bored so I am figuring if I have something keeping tabs on me I will do better.

Weekend Camping

This weekend was quite restful for me. I mainly stayed around the camp by the rivers edge, did some reading, and worked on journaling and starting a Creative Art/Nature journal. The weather was perfect! The only bad thing were the ticks! They were really really bad! Hubby woke me up one night because he discovered he had 7 ticks on him! Funny, normally I am the one that ticks and fleas love but I had none this time round! I am not complaining!

I have a feeling that we won't be doing very much camping this year due to the price of gas! It cost us almost $100 in gaas alone never mind the camp fees and food! And speaking of camp fees, the place that we will never go back to actually charged us $5 per dog per day! We took our two dogs and it cost us more in pet fees than our fees! Normally we go to Bald mountain and do real primitive camping, there is no amenities but it is free. We will prolly stick to there or go to Crabtree Falls. I like Crabtree falls even though there is a camp fee, it has a shower, bathroom, and a little store.

A weekend retreat, sorta...

I am taking a quick break to gather my thoughts. We are leaving tomorrow to go camping for the weekend. I have been experiencing a bad fibro week so I am hoping being in the mountains and being able to walk through the woods will help me relax. I am bringing some art supplies and I will be starting a Creative Art/Nature journal while I am there. I have been having so many ideas as of late concerning different types of art ideas that I want to use to create greeting cards so I am hoping this trip will be a great help!

Hope I have done this right!

I have added some more ads from project wonderful so I can have more than one ad running. Can this be done so I can have lots of people buying ads for my website instead just one? I've noticed others have more than one person running an ad on their sites.
