Latest WIP: Morag

This mermaid is named after a friend I grew up with in Ocean View and is a character in a story I am writing. I've been working on her for a few days and she is coming along just fine.

Cats showing love to their ailing humans:

After I posted about my X-rays and boo boos I laid down for a much deserved nap. When I awoke there was Misty on the coffee table facing away from me, D.C. straddling my legs, and Tripp sleeping on my shoulder with his butt in my face!
I feel so loved and glad that my nose was stuffed up!

All this big hullaballoo about the end of the Mayan Calendar,

well, if it is the end of the world, which I seriously doubt it will be,

but if it is, I'd rather go than have to stay and clean up the mess - I certainly do hate housework!

Our Christmas tree for 2012

Once upon a time I decorated my Christmas tree with Victorian Country decorations but somehow they morphed into little pictures of all the foster dogs we have taken care of over the years!

Of course there is a cat on the top of the tree: "Cats Rule!"

 Tripp added some extra lights.

 Same here!

What have I been up to.....

First thing is my brain has stopped working correctly... I have been trying for weeks to post and couldn't.... discovered today it was because I was trying to post under the wrong name! I ain't right! :D

I did Nanowrimo in November and officially passed the 50,000 word minimum! I had help from my plot bunnies: Cy (the green plot bunnie) and Babs (the pink plot bunnie - Breast cancer Awareness plot Bunnie Sisterhood).

During one weekend in November I went on a "Beyond Boobs" retreat - what happens in Boober land stays in Boober land!

The beginning of December one of our foster dogs, Scotty, was adopted to his forever home:

Then I did some sketching

And today my husband and I volunteered for "Toys for Tots."

And in the midst of it all I did some pet sitting! Now I am wore out! Looks like I will have a few days of R&R so I can do some drawing!

Yep, National Novel Writing Month. Trying to write a 50k novel. I'm over 11K but it looks like I have three different story lines! What? Help!

This song touched me and spoke to my heart about things, so many things that have happened in my life. I'm the type of person who doesn't get over things that easily, I feel them deeply... I still hurt over my father's death, when I heard my childhood dog died, when my cats Blue Ridge  and Bunnie died, when I was divorced....

Tripp thinking.....

I found her, well, she found me!

I have been trying to find an old friend for decades, her name is Morag MacDougall. Out of the clear blue I get a friend request on facebook from a Morag MacDougall and after accepting her and doing a chat, it was my friend Morag! Can't tell you how excited I am to finally be in touch with her!

I went to my Onc yesterday....

and I must admit his diagnosis of “You are still cured” didn’t make me feel any better. I know the Drs say cancer is a chronic disease and I have always known that once a person gets cancer they usually get it again it is usually worse the second time. Until I joined “Beyond Boobs” my support group I had never met anyone who had survived the 2nd go round.
This came after a weekend of riding the Grand Funk Railroad. sigh.

Why I am Making Strides

Because I know I will make a difference in the fight to end breast cancer. I know that by raising funds and walking in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event, I will help save lives from breast cancer.

I believe that one day breast cancer will never steal another year from anyone's life. Making Strides is not only my opportunity to join my community to fight back against breast cancer, but it is also a way to inspire hope by raising funds and awareness to help those facing the disease. That's why I'm walking.

Who I am Making Strides For

My reason for walking in the Making Strides event is personal – just like every other walker’s story. We all walk because we’ve been affected by breast cancer in some way, and because the Making Strides event gives us the power to make a difference and fight back. This is my opportunity to honor breast cancer survivors, remember people we have lost, and help raise funds for groundbreaking research, information and services for people fighting breast cancer, and mammograms for women who need them.

Why I Support the American Cancer Society

Every day, the American Cancer Society helps people take steps to reduce their risk of breast cancer or find it early when it is easiest to treat. Today 1 of every 2 women newly diagnosed with breast cancer reaches out to them for help and support. They provide free information and services when and where women need it throughout their journey to get well. They are investing in groundbreaking research to find, prevent, treat, and cure breast cancer, and are working to ensure access to mammograms for women who need them.

I have signed up to walk and fundraise with Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. I hope you will consider joining my team and/or making a donation in support of my efforts.

Together, we can make strides to end breast cancer!
